Sarah Elder-Chamanara

Founder & Owner | Madame Premier

Sarah Elder-Chamanara is the founder, creative director, designer and owner of Madame Premier, a feminist and political clothing company based in Calgary, Alberta. With the underlying principle of seeing more women and diversity in politics, elected and in backrooms, at every level, Sarah leverages Madame Premier to create opportunities for conversations about why politics needs to change. Madame Premier is a woman-owned and operated small business empowering women through the intersection of politics, feminism, advocacy and fashion. With the goal of amplifying the lack of women and marginalized communities in politics and the need for a variety of voices at decision making tables, Madame Premier is committed to not only helping women break the glass ceiling of politics but completely shatter it. Madame Premier has been featured in the National Post, CBC, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and Global. Sarah opened Madame Premier’s first store in the historic area of Inglewood in Calgary in July 2021. Sarah is the host and creator of the podcast Ellected for women in and around Canadian politics through an intersectional multi-partisan political lens in conversations with Canadian politicians and on issues we all need to know and care more about.
