Biography
Hilary Inwood teaches in the Master of Teaching program at OISE, and leads its Environmental & Sustainability Education (ESE) Initiative, as well as its Arts Education courses, at the University of Toronto. She leads a Master of Teaching cohort at Ryerson Elementary School focused on Social Justice and Eco-Justice Education, and coordinates a formal collaboration between OISE and the TDSB's EcoSchools Program focused on Environmental Education. She is Co-Chair of the ESE-TE Standing Committee of EECOM, a national network of education faculty focused on improving the integration of ESE into teacher education across Canada. Her teaching centres on art education, environmental education, qualitative research, and teaching methods, while her research focuses on developing teachers' knowledge and skills in environmental literacy and environmental art education. Inwood has been an instructor for Additional Qualification courses at OISE for the past decade, and leads professional development workshops for K-12 teachers focused on cross-curricular approaches to environmental and sustainability education. Her work as an educator, researcher, and artist often extends beyond the classroom to include school gardens, outdoor education centres, parks, and galleries.
