Nearly one year ago, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench released its eagerly awaited decision in Redwater Energy Corporation (Re), 2016 ABQB 278 (Redwater). On April 24, 2017, in a decision that underscores the significant implications of that decision for the regulation of Alberta’s oil and gas resources, the Alberta Court of Appeal affirmed the lower Court’s decision.

Biography
Janice Buckingham is Chair of the Oil & Gas Practice and Co-chair of the Energy Practice Group at Osler. She speaks about the business and legal issues affecting the Canadian Oil & Gas industry, including energy M+A, joint ventures, ownership and operation of conventional and unconventional energy resources. She is an expert on all aspects of contractual arrangements with multiple parties involved in domestic + international energy projects. Buckingham held senior business positions in the energy industry prior to joining Osler.
