Biography

Laura Eggertson is a freelance journalist, writer, and editor who specializes in health, science, and Indigenous health issues. She is also a child welfare professional and advocate with the Adoption Council of Canada who facilitates digital storytelling and Youth Speak Out programs, working with youth in and from foster and group homes across Canada. She is an adoptee, an adoptive parent, and a kinship parent. Eggertson is the recipient of a Nieman fellowship at Harvard University, the Michener-Deacon fellowship for public policy journalism, and two Certificates of Merit from the Michener Foundation, as well as a Canadian Association of Journalists investigative journalism award.
