On the same subject, Investment News reports that 70% of women switch financial advisors within a year of their husband’s death (in Canada it’s 80%)

Despite all the efforts to attract and retain women as clients, financial advisors are failing miserably. The numbers are hard to ignore – 73% of women report being unhappy with the financial services industry, 80% of widows leave their financial advisor upon the death of their husbands and 87% of women looking for a financial advisor say they can’t find one they can connect with.

Biography

Paulette Filion has 40+ years in financial services; a corporate marketing executive within financial services in Canada and the U.S for more than 25 years. She started a consultancy in 1996, working with financial companies on marketing, sales development, product. Specialty is an understanding of financial advisors.

Filion partnered with Judy Paradi in 2014 to launch StrategyMarketing.ca. Savvy financial organizations understand that they can no longer pander to women by simply advertising that their organization is “female friendly” without ensuring that it is. Their focus is on helping all financial organizations, big and small, deliver on that promise without overreaching their budget.
