Biography
MacNeill has a Masters in Public Administration, concentrated in economic development, and extensive experience working with all levels of government and their ministers' offices as a senior analyst and senior business officer. Her long hours at the job led to injury and the bone scan that discovered her breast cancer.
Her mother had breast cancer twice before 50, so MacNeill was regularly sent for mammograms and was part of a breast screening program. After the bone scan results, she was sent to get another mammogram that revealed nothing. In fact, ultrasound didn't reveal anything either. In her case, it took a MRI to reveal three cancer masses in her right breast because her dense breast tissue was masking them. She came to Dense Breasts Canada with one question: "why was I never told about the breast cancer risks associated with my dense breasts in any of the provinces I have lived in despite having mammograms in each of them?"
MacNeill advocated for change in the media and represented patients at the Inagural conference for the Canadian Society for Breast Imaging in Montreal
