Barbara delivers a regular infrastructure column for CBC Radio 1 in markets across in Ontario. She covers a diverse range of infrastructure topics, from flooding, climate change, bottled water, drinking water fountains, pavement, potholes, snow clearing, etc. She is heard approximately monthly in Kitchener Waterloo and other markets pick up the live columns depending on the topic. Biography

Barbara Robinson is a Professional Civil Engineer with expertise in all aspects of municipal infrastructure, with a specific focus on sewer design, installation, monitoring, and replacement. Robinson works with municipalities across Ontario and Canada on flooding and climate change associated with sewer systems. She sits on a variety of boards and recently chaired the development of a the CSA Standard for Basement Flood Protection and Risk Reduction, published in June 2018. . Robinson is a recognized expert in her field across Canada. She has an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa, and a Master Degree in Civil Engineering from University of Toronto. Robinson is fluent in French.

Recognition/Reconnaissance

Chair, CSA Z800 Basement Flood Protection Guideline | Professional

Barbara was invited to chair this essential committee of 30 diverse professionals, to develop a new CSA Guideline (which will evolve into a Standard) to set policy for the protection against basement flooding, by making improvements on both the private and public side of our infrastructure. The diverse group includes members from NRC, Insurance groups, municipalities, manufacturers, water and sewer purveyors, Inspectors, Building Officials, etc. Barbara was asked to Chair because of her extensive technical expertise in this area. The Guideline is expected to be published (following successful public review) in early summer, 2018.
