Biography

Sara Kirk is a Professor of Health Promotion at Dalhousie University and Scientific Director of the Healthy Populations Institute. Her research explores the creation of supportive environments for chronic disease prevention, through healthy eating and physical activity. She uses a ‘socio-ecological’ approach that considers how individual behaviour is influenced by broader factors, such as income, education, and societal norms. Her work has informed policy and practice across Canada and internationally. She is also a board member of Vélo Canada Bikes, a national non-profit advocating for a national cycling strategy and dedicated infrastructure to support cycling.
