Biography

Dr. Richardson’s previous clinical experience includes paediatric haematology/oncology nursing and family care coordination. She is an assistant professor in the Rankin School of Nursing at StFX University. Prior to that, she jtaught in the undergraduate program at Dalhousie University with a focus on care of children and families, palliative care, and foundations of nursing practice. Research includes the use of hermeneutic phenomenology to better understand lived experiences of illness and spiritual health among children with cancer and cystic fibrosis and survey research to explore youth sexual health behaviours. More recently, Dr. Richardson has been working with nursing faculty from other Canadian universities to explore the use of competencies in palliative and end-of-life care education.
