Biography

Mary Gospodarowicz is the Medical Director of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada and Regional Vice-President of Cancer Care Ontario for Toronto South. She recently completed a 10 year term as Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto and Chief of the Radiation Medicine Program at Princess Margaret. Her major research interest are in radiation therapy for lymphomas, genitourinary cancers—including prostate cancer, bladder cancer and seminoma—and late effects of treatment, especially second cancers. Current research activities include study of image guided precision radiotherapy. Gospodarowicz also has a long-standing interest in cancer classification with an emphasis on staging and prognostic factors. Current interests include the application of modern information and communication technologies in cancer control. She is an Fellow of the American Society of Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), honorary fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists in the United Kingdom, an honorary member of the European Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO), and a past president of the Canadian Association of Radiation Oncologists.
