Biography

Naomi Snieckus is the founder of Firecracker Department. She is an actor, writer, improviser, producer, and director. She is a regular on CBC’s hit comedy, ‘Mr. D’, for which she has received several nominations including ACTRA, CSA and won the Canadian Comedy Award. She is an alumni of The Second City Toronto, where she went on to write and perform in five hit shows. Snieckus is a founding member (along with her partner, Matt Baram) and co-artistic director of The National Theatre of the World (a five-time CCA winner). In 2010, she won the CCA for Best Female Improviser. She is a producer and founder of the new podcast Firecracker Department and half of the award winning duo Baram & Snieckus. Her TV and film credits include Designated Survivor, I Martin Short Go Home, ‘The Listener’, ‘Degrassi’, ‘Ron James Show’, ‘Being Erica’, ‘Wingin’ It’, and ‘Dino Dan’. She co-created the digital show ‘Doing it With Brian and Darla’ for CBC Comedy and ‘The Casting Room’ Web Series (LA WebFest and CCA winner). She was a regular on ‘George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight’ on CBC, and is the host of the popular podcast Firecracker Department.
