Biography
Dr. Doris Barwich is the executive director at the BC Centre for Pallitive Care and a Clinical Associate Professor, Division of Palliative Care, Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. She is a palliative care clinician, educator, and leader. Prior to joining the Centre in 2014, she co-led Fraser Health’s End of Life Care program with several nationally and internationally recognized leading practices in Advance Care Planning, population health and program delivery. Barwich has served on numerous provincial and national committees and boards, and has been part of developing innovative approaches to improve care for patients and families living with serious illness. Her research includes developing tools and resources for Advance Care Planning. She supports transformative changes within the health care system and embraces the challenges and opportunities of living and dying well in the 21st century. She is affiliated with several institutions, including: BC Cancer Agency, Physician, Pain & Symptom Management Program, Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, Palliative & End of Life Care Network, Canadian Frailty Network, and the iCAN ACP Research.
