Biography

Kathy Durand is the Director of Strategy and Operations at the Prevention Collaborative, a global organization dedicated to preventing violence against women. The Prevention Collaborative is a new, virtual organization that aims to bridge the gap between research and practice; i.e. supporting organizations to apply the research about what works to prevent violence. Prior to this, she was the Director of Africa Operations at Digital Opportunity Trust, where she supports young entrepreneurs to make a difference in their community. Over her 20+ year career in development, Durand has advised Government of Canada on multilateral issues, worked with families and communities to educate girls, and supported decentralization efforts in Northern Ghana. In her personal life, she is interested in anti-racism work, particularly the issues around education, as she supports and advocates for her two bi-racial sons through the education system.
