Biography

Dr. Hélène Deacon is a Killam Professor in the Faculty of Science, where she directs the Language and Literacy Lab. Her research explores how children learn to read and write; for children learning to read in English, as well as for bilinguals. Her research is conducted with their amazing partner schools and collaborators around the world. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including Killam Professor, Faculty of Science (2015-2020) and the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists Editor’s award (2013).
