Biography
Dr. Maureen Mayhew has practiced cross-cultural medicine and public health since 1988 serving immigrants, refugees, Inuit, Metis and First Nations in Canada and abroad. From 2000 to 2011 she worked internationally in Afghanistan and countries in Africa. From 2012-2017 she worked for BCCDC in TB Services. She currently works in Nunavut as a locum Deputy Chief Medical Health Officer and in Vancouver in the Physician Health Program.
Mayhew is a Clinical Professor at the School of Population and Public Health, an Associate in the Department of Family Medicine and an Associate at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She conducts research related to immigrant and refugee health. Healthcare is currently working on several projects involving latent TB infection in immigrants, group medical visits and womens’ health.
Mayhew co-coordinates an Enhanced Skills Global Health program. She served on the editorial board for Caring for Kids New to Canada.
