Biography

Dr. Kresta joined the University of Prince Edward Island in 2024 as the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering. She is a professor of chemical engineering and recently completed a term as the Dean of Engineering (2018–2023) at the University of Saskatchewan. Previously, she was the Associate Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, at the University of Alberta.

She holds a BSc from the University of New Brunswick (UNB, 1986), an MSc in Integrated Design of Chemical Plants from the University of Leeds (UK), and a PhD from McMaster University (1992). Over her career, Kresta has worked in 20 different industrial sectors on turbulent, multiphase mixing problems ranging from drinking water to metal extraction. Several companies have been valued collaborators for over twenty years. Students who have graduated from her research group hold academic positions across Canada and in Europe, and she treasures close relationships with a number of her former undergraduates who are also academics. She has been recognized with a number of national and international awards for her research, teaching, and leadership,. She is a co-editor of the Handbook of Industrial Mixing (2005), and chief editor of Advances in Industrial Mixing (2015).
