Biography

Véronique Chiasson offers Occupational Therapy Assessments, Consultation, and Intervention to enable children to participate in their everyday activities at home, school and in the community Training, Parent-Coaching, and Supervision of Early Start Denver Model intervention programs.

Chiasson received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Ottawa in 2003. As well, she previously earned a B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology. She is a bilingual Occupational Therapist who specializes in working with children. She delivers quality interventions that focus on motivating children to learn, participate, and thrive while also providing strategies, education, and mentoring to their parents and caregivers. Recently, she qualified to become the world’s first French speaking instructor to train and certify individuals in the Early Start Denver Model program, a comprehensive behavioural early intervention approach for autistic children aged 12 to 48 months. In her day-to-day work, Chiasson is highly interested in applying empirical research. She has participated in the DCD Project, a research project aimed at educating community doctors in Developmental Coordination Disorder. She also takes part in Kickstart-Early Intervention for Autism, a charity-funded project aiming to offer parent coaching to families recently diagnosed with autism.

Currently, Chiasson is also teaching as a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa’s occupational therapy program. She is an avid supporter for organizations fundraising for research on best practices for childhood cancers as a parent of a childhood cancer survivor.
