Biography
Laura Macdougall is a leading authority for senior women leaders in the non-profit and health care sectors who are designing their next chapters in life, work, and legacy. With 25 years of experience leading change in the health care and non-profit sectors, and an MBA from the Smith School of Business, Macdougall saw a vast untapped resource in senior women leader. She created the Feeling On Fire coaching program and the Flourishing Business Collective for entrepreneurs as tools in her mission to rouse fellow leaders to even greater contribution and purpose.
In her own career within the health sector, Macdougall and her team set the standard for patient-centred care in Ontario and beyond. She was an expert panel member for Accreditation Canada, advising on the first national standards for client-centred care. She has also held senior roles at leading organizations such as Cancer Care Ontario, Mount Sinai Hospital, Patheon Inc. and Baxter, where she has been recognized with awards for excellence including a Rising Star award amongst others.
Frequently called on as a speaker and moderator at conferences across Canada, England and the United States, Macdougall presents on a broad range of topics from the patient experience to resilience to women in leadership.
A life-long volunteer, Macdougall developed a resilience program for youth living in a shelter inn 2015. Now she shares her expertise with others on resilience and has a special interest in supporting those in leadership roles in healthcare to develop the resilience they need to thrive under challenging circumstances. She has worked with organizations such as Johnson and Johnson, Ministry Tourism, Culture and Sport, Sick Kids Hospital, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission and the Canadian Institute for Health Information amongst others.
Macdougall continues to support her parents in their 90's as they live in their own home both suffering from dementia. It has given her a whole new perspective on patient and family centred care and the burden on caregivers.
