Biography
Jessica Vliegenthart is a trial lawyer, Paralympian, and the voice behind The Roll Model, where she shares her experience as a lawyer, athlete, and mother with a spinal cord injury. She is also the founder of Kamloops Adapted Sports Association, which provides opportunities to athletes with physical disabilities in the BC Interior. Now practicing in the area of personal injury, Vliegenthart regularly represents clients at in the BC Supreme Court. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she represented Canada in Wheelchair Basketball, retiring after the London 2012 Paralympics. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of Spinal Cord Injury BC and Kamloops Adapted Sports Association. She is the Athlete Representative on the Revenue and Government Relations Committee of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. Vliegenthart is also a Rick Hansen Foundation Ambassador. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Communications from Simon Fraser University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria.
