Gabrielle Fayant: our work at the Assembly of Seven Generations

Gabrielle Fayant originates from Fishing Lake Metis Settlement, Alberta, and identifies as a proud Michif woman. Currently living in Ottawa, on the traditional lands of the Algonquin peoples, Gabrielle, along with a team of Indigenous youth, began an initiative called Assembly of Seven Generations.

This talk was part of “Suncor Presents The Walrus Talks Youth Leadership.” It was filmed in Calgary, Alberta, on February 20 at Hudson.

Biography

Gabrielle Fayant's family originates in Fishing Lake Métis Settlement, AB but she currently lives on the unceded territory of the Algonquin people, in Ottawa, ON. Fayant is an award-winning woman for her work in community, for her dedication to supporting young people and amplifying grassroots efforts. Fayant's work encompasses cultural resurgence, revitalization and restitution for all Indigenous peoples. Fayant is the co-founder and co-CEO of an Indigenous youth-led and driven non-profit, Assembly of Seven Generations (A7G).
