Biography

Yuan (“You-anne”) Stevens (she/they) is a legal and policy expert focused on sociotechnical security and human rights. She works towards a world where powerful actors—and the systems they build—are held accountable to the public, especially when it comes to equity-seeking communities.

Previously, she was as a Legal and Policy Adviser on digital rights for children and young people on the Amnesty Tech team at Amnesty International in London, UK. Stevens is a research fellow at the Centre for Law, Technology and Society at the University of Ottawa and she previously worked at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society during her studies in law at McGill University.
