Biography

Casey Caines is a Cree and Dene woman from FNFN, currently residing in Sexsmith, Alberta. She is a Juris Doctor Candidate 2023 at the University of Alberta, a co-founder of the Medicine Box Project, and a founder of Waniska Leadership Retreat. Caines volunteers as a representative for the University of Alberta’s Indigenous Law Student Association, a Board Member for the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, a member of the Colleges and Institutes of Canada Impact Advisory Council, and a youth delegate for YOUNGA and UNITE 2030 amongst other valuable community organizations. She uses her platform to create discussions and solutions surrounding systemic inequalities and barriers to access, and has expertise in Indigenous knowledge systems and participation in the justice system.
