Biography

Carolynn Beaty is the Executive Director of the Sitka Foundation, which, through investments in changemakers, communities, and organizations, catalyzes the protection of nature and biodiversity in targeted environments. She has led the granting program since 2010 and provides strategic direction for the organization and all of its partnerships. She also advises on effective deployment of capital and serves on governance systems for key partners. Beaty works with community organizers, policy and decision makers, all levels of governments, and scientists. She has a background in conservation biology and philosophy. She has been an educator in classroom settings and other less conventional places for the past fifteen years. She holds degrees from Queen’s University at Kingston and from Imperial College London.
