Biography
Dr. Kisha McPherson is an Assistant Professor in the School of Professional Communication. She is an educator and scholar with over 15 years of research and teaching experience in social justice education, critical race, and cultural studies.. McPherson's research and scholarship is focused on the impact of policy, media, and contemporary representations of Blackness on the identity, experiences, and wellbeing of Black girls. She currently holds a faculty position at the University of British Colombia in the Faculty of Education. Her interest is in using Black feminist approaches to developing anti-oppressive pedagogies to support teaching and learning in both formal academic and community spaces.
