Biography
Pamela Barnum is a former undercover police officer in the drug enforcement section. Following a successful policing career, Barnum became a federal prosecuting attorney. While working in the criminal justice system for two decades, she learned real-world techniques for building trust, detecting deception, and interpreting nonverbal cues. Decades of experience, coupled with a Juris Doctor (Western University) and Master of Public Administration (Western University) degree, she developed strategies to negotiate with ease, influence with trust, and communicate with empathy and confidence. Barnum has been a featured expert and contributor on trust and nonverbal communication in print media, radio, and television throughout the United States and Canada. Her TEDx talks, “What Drug Dealers Taught Me About Trust,” and “How Empathy Empowered an Undercover Cop” have been viewed over 450,000 times.
