Biography

Michaela Mayer has a diverse background of experience having worked as a human rights advocate, legal associate in refugee and immigration law, and economic development before joining the Canadian Center for Women’s Empowerment (CCFWE) in March 2022. At CCFWE, she is leading the organization’s policy work, advocating for comprehensive responses to economic and financial abuse including financial empowerment for victim-survivors, safe and affordable housing for women fleeing abuse, and equitable access to financial services. Mayer holds a Master’s Degree in International Development and in Law from the University of Vienna, Austria.
