Biography

Angela Wu worked for many years in the non-profit sector and holds both a Bachelor of Social Work and an LLM in Human Rights Law, her thesis focused on the impact of Canada’s sex work laws on im/migrant sex workers. Wu's expertise and integrity inform everything she does - from media interviews to speaking to a House of Commons Standing Committee. She can help reporters who want to cover the often untold stories in sex work - which include the perspectives of im/migrant women in the industry and how they’re targeted by Canadian laws and anti-trafficking campaigns. Before becoming SWAN's Executive Director, she led the organization's work in addressing media misrepresentations of im/migrant women engaged in sex work.
