Biography
Niha Shazad is the Senior Director for Strategic Planning for CCFWE, and a Policy Analyst at Natural Resources Canada for the Government of Canada, analyzing Canada’s energy and environmental issues, while being inclusive of impacts on women, vulnerable peoples and Indigenous communities. As Senior Director, she manages the strategic planning of programs, initiatives and fundraising for the organization. In her prior role as Research Director, Shazad led a team of researchers to explore the impacts that COVID-19 had on economic abuse victim-survivors in Canada, and filling the data gap on economic abuse. She is also the host of the IDEAA-nomics podcast, raising awareness about anti-racism and equity, diversity and inclusion. She has a Master’s degree in English from Queen’s University, and a Master’s in Public Policy from the Munk School at the University of Toronto. She brings to CCWE a policy innovation and human-centred design focus. She hopes to use these to shed light on economic abuse in Canada and increase awareness through wide-ranging communications campaigns and research projects.
