Biography

Prof. Sarah Rugheimer is an astrophysicist and the Allan I Carswell Chair at York University in Toronto. She researches how to detect life on distant planets by looking at star light filtering through their atmospheres. She earned her Ph.D. at Harvard and then was a research fellow at St. Andrews and Oxford. She has been awarded several prizes for her public engagement in astronomy and her TED talk “The Search for Microscopic Aliens” has 1.7 million views on TED.com. Her astrobiology course for the public is available on Amazon Audible Originals, called “Searching for Extraterrestrial Life.”
