Biography
Monique Auffrey is an award winning social worker and community leader. She has practised in Canada and overseas for more than two decades. Her international work includes working with asylum seekers and survivors of landmines. In Canada, Auffrey is known as a subject matter expert in areas related to violence against women, mental health and addiction, and housing and homelessness. She has published on Housing First for women with children fleeing domestic violence, youth mental health and fertility tourism. Auffrey is past CEO of Family SOS in Halifax, Discovery House Family Violence Prevention Society in Calgary as well as Carya and Youthlink. She has taught at Dalhousie University, University of Calgary and is now a faculty member at Alberta University of the Arts where she serves as a full time counsellor. Auffrey has returned to study at the doctoral level in counselling and psychotherapy and is pursuing research in the area of the use of humanoid robots in health care. Volunteer Board of Director: Pro Bono Students Canada, Pathways to Education Canada, Propellus and Two Wheel View. Auffrey has been an invited guest to the United Nations in New York and has provided keynotes and multiple presentations around the world.
