Biography

Leah Coppella is a PhD candidate at Simon Fraser University specializing in health services research and health services geography, with a focus on older adults living with HIV, older women’s sexual health and wellbeing, and issues within Long-Term Care (LTC) and Assisted Living (AL). As a member of the Fraser Health Long-Term Care and Assisted Living Research Unit, Coppella collaborates with health authorities, nonprofits, community organizations and universities to conduct impactful research that informs healthcare policy and practice. Coppella holds an MA in Geography from York University and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University. Her previous work includes research on adolescent youth’s sexual wellbeing and privacy. Trained and certified as a Research Meets Policy Fellow, Coppella is recognized for her interdisciplinary approach, community engagement, and contributions to advancing health services research.
