Biography
Based in the Yukon, Hilary Cooke is a Conservation Ecologist and Co-Director of the Northern Boreal Mountains (NBM) Program. Cooke has 25 years experience leading ecological research, with specialities in avian ecology, boreal forest ecology, large-landscape conservation, and climate change adaptation, and their application to management and conservation. She leads the NBM Program’s strategic engagement on policy development and reform by providing scientific evidence and expertise on issues ranging from wetland policy and environmental assessments to wildland fire management and mineral legislation reform. She partners with First Nation, territorial, and federal governments, academics, and other civil society organizations to achieve evidence-based conservation outcomes in the NBM region.
