The new Genome Canada – Mitacs partnership will enable funding and training for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows as they are placed within industry through GAPP projects. It will prepare Canada’s next entrepreneurs through hands-on experience. Interns transfer their skills from theory to real-world application, while the companies gain a competitive advantage by accessing high-quality research expertise.
Biography
Josette Landry is the CEO and founder of Streamline Genomics (Techstars NYC’18). She is also the inaugural Innovator in Residence at Sainte-Justine Hospital, and a visiting scholar in the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal. She was previously Vice President, Business Development for Mitacs, where she helped facilitate partnerships between university researchers and industry.
During her graduate studies, Landry co-founded a consulting firm providing bioinformatics services to the Vancouver biotechnology sector. She received her Ph.D. in Genetics from the Terry Fox Labs at the University of British Columbia, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Cambridge. She also holds an MBA from HEC Montréal and serves on a diverse roster of committees and boards, including CIHR’s Governing Council.
Landry est la PDG et fondatrice de Streamline Genomics (Techstars NYC'18). Elle est aussi innovatrice en résidence au CHU Sainte-Justine et chercheure invitée au département de médecine de l’Université de Montréal. Elle était auparavant vice-présidente, développement des affaires pour Mitacs, où elle aidait à faciliter les partenariats entre les chercheurs universitaires et l'industrie.
Durant ses études supérieures, Landry a cofondé BasePair Solutions, cabinet-conseil qui fournit des services de bio-informatique au secteur de la biotechnologie à Vancouver. Elle a obtenu en 2003 un doctorat en génétique du Laboratoire Terry Fox de l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique. Landry a complété sa formation postdoctorale à l’Université de Cambridge, avant de décrocher un M.B.A. de HEC Montréal. Elle siège sur de nombreux CA, dont celui des IRSC.
