Biography
Tanya Dahms was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario and studied Biology and Chemistry at the University of Waterloo (BSc 1990). She chose to design new methods to study protein structure, function, and dynamics during her PhD (1996) in biophysics at Ottawa University and the National Research Council of Canada (NRCC). As a postdoctoral fellow, she used X-rays to study protein structure and function at Purdue University, and returned to Canada to develop advanced microscopy methods to study biological systems at NRC. Dahms was appointed an Assistant Professorship at the University of Regina (UofR, 1999) where she launched the advanced microscopy facility, which has now been greatly expanded. Now a Full Professor, Dahms and her group study the impact of environmental contaminants and antifungals using advanced microscopy and biochemical methods.
