Biography

Dr. Tanya Forneris is an associate professor in the School of Human Kinetics. She received her Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her expertise is in positive youth development and community programming. More specifically, her research focuses on the development, implementation and evaluation of life skills based (e.g., goal setting, confidence building, leadership) sport and physical activity programs to enhance youth development, particularly with marginalized populations. She has worked with non-profit organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club here in Ottawa and she has also worked internationally with an NGO in Nepal. Currently, she teaches courses in research methods, community programming and in the MHK program (Intervention and Consultation in Sport, Physical Activity and Health).
